BASF Opens Biocatalysed Acrylamide Plant In Jiangsu

BASF has opened a new plant to produce biocatalysed acrylamide (BioACM) at its site in Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park, China.

The plant is capable of producing more than 50,000t of biocatalysed acrylamide annually, and has joined two other BioACM facilities owned by BASF in the US and England, UK.

Acrylamide is used in the manufacture of water-soluble flocculation aids that can make wastewater treatment and papermaking, as well as mineral processing and oil recovery methods less resource-intensive.
