November 8 (Renewables Now) – Danish firm Aalborg CSP A/S on Tuesday announced an order to supply a steam generation system for a demo 50-MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant that will be built in China.

The Shenzhen Jinfan Akesai CSP park will use parabolic troughs with molten salt as heat transfer fluid in the receiver pipes and will also have an accompanying storage with a capacity of up to 15 hours per day. Planned to be situated in Gansu province, the project will be implemented as part of a five-year plan aimed at helping China change the landscape of large-scale power generation. It was awarded under the first batch of the programme and will receive a feed-in tariff (FiT) of CNY 1.15 (USD 0.17/EUR 0.15) per kWh. The company behind the scheme is China’s Shenzhen JinFan Power Co Ltd.

Aalborg has won the contract together with Chinese firm Jiangsu Livo New Energy Technology Co Ltd, its local manufacturing partner. The parties will deliver the boiler equipment that will enable the plant to achieve uninterrupted conversion of solar heat to steam using molten salt technology. In addition, Aalborg will supply certain components for the pressure vessels and all interconnecting piping, with deliveries expected to be completed in June 2018.
